What do you need to know about the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. Expectations are high that the new court will open for business later this year, with UK participation in spite of Brexit. Please come join us at the May luncheon where Hugh Dunlop, Partner at Maucher Jenkins, will discuss the Unitary Patent and the UPC, and provide his insights into the implications imposed by Brexit on this new venture. Hugh will also discuss recent UK court decisions on FRAND royalties for patents essential to 4G standards, and on clearing the way from submarine divisional patents in the pharma sector.
Speaker:
Hugh Dunlop, is a partner at Maucher Jenkins, one of the largest and most successful intellectual property practices in the United Kingdom recently merged with Maucher Boerjes of Germany. He has over 30 years of experience in the patent profession, including 13 years with Motorola, the US mobile radio and semiconductor manufacturer. His time at Motorola included four years at the company’s headquarters in Illinois after which he returned to Europe to work on licensing and on European opposition proceedings.
Hugh is a graduate of Engineering from Cambridge, and attended the John Marshall Law School in Chicago where he was awarded an LLM in Intellectual Property Law. While in the United States, Hugh passed the USPTO examination to practice before that office. He is author of the book The European Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court, published by CIPA.
